Watching politics since 1950.

Obama Democrat for a Day in NV, CA, FL -- and video!

Here's a video from the Obama campaign promoting their "Democrat for a Day" scheme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUE4Kp0YERs

This is a very professional, expensively produced video.

SURE Obama himself didn't know his campaign was doing this stuff.

The paper flyer in Nevada might have been dismissed as an individual mistake ... the Obama campaign webpage in Florida (up from April till Nov and still in a Google cache at http://tinyurl.com/24pvlg ) ... might have been some kind of abberation....

But this expensive video? Will Saint Obama disavow all knowledge of THIS?

BO success would be a BAD message to Pakistan

ETA scroll down: cooler comments from Pakistan condemn Obama's 'irresponsible rhetoric.'

Matthews and others say that any success for Obama, even just in the Iowa caucuses, will instantly send a message to the world which will 're-brand' the US. However I think we need to look more carefully at HOW Obama is actually viewed in key areas -- such as  Pakistan.

In July and August 2007, Obama talked about unilateral US military action in Pakistan even without the support of the Pakistan government, and about moving troops from Iraq to the "right battlefield in Pakistan and Afganistan."

This understandably upset the Pakistanis; he was burned in effigy: http://www.foxnews.com/photoessay/0,4644 ,2164,00.html

I'll be supplying many quotes from Pakistan sources; here are samples:

If majority of [US] people start liking blacks & ex-Muslims & [Obama] wins [...] and somehow they clone the 500,000 army
Then I guess US should be prepared for "Nuclear Jihad"; The 9/11 will be a nothing compared to that.
---------
Some of these Muslims turned atheists want to doubly show how anti-Muslim they are just to fit in. Pathetic.

In light of the Pakistan assassination and delicate balance there, I think we need to be careful about what message they might get from headlines this coming week. As Matthews pointed out, even a small success for Obama in Iowa and NH might look quite large in the press of countries not familiar with our system of multiple primaries.

It is not just some Pakistan leaders opposing US military presence in Pakistan -- the public opposes it also by 80%.
Http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/brasiapacificra/424.php?lb=bras&pnt=424&nid=&id= There is overwhelming opposition to letting American or other foreign troops attack al Qaeda or Taliban forces in Pakistan, however. Eighty percent of those polled say American or other foreign troops should not be allowed “to enter Pakistan to pursue and capture al Qaeda fighters.” Only five percent say this should be allowed and an additional 15 percent do not answer. An overwhelming majority (77%) also rejects allowing US or other foreign forces enter Pakistan “to pursue and capture Taliban insurgents who have crossed over from Afghanistan.” Only nine percent disagree and 14 percent decline to respond. Other recent surveys of Pakistan and other Muslim countries have also found strong objections to the presence of American troops in Muslim lands.
ETA: And here are some quotes from more reasonable heads over there about BO's "The War We Must Win":
So they would destablise a nuclear power? take a chance that Nuke warheads might full into the hands of Osama or one his successors? Old Barrack might talk tough before a election but when the generals sit down with him and explain maybe he'd realise the foolishness of his claims and back away from it.
....
Two amazing things here: firstly that an up until now credible politician [Obama] can turn out to be such an idiot as to make GW look intelligent: and secondly he can get so close to running America.
....
In other words, in his own partisan political interest, [Obama] was quite willing to undermine the security of a state whose particular problems he may not even be aware of.
